The Home School Legal Defense Association will release their film Building the Machine on March 31, 2014. You can watch the trailer by clicking Building the Machine now and should be able to see the movie at this same link when it is released.
Here’s a little information from HSLDA’s website about the movie:
Building the Machine introduces the public to the Common Core States Standards Initiative (CCSSI) and its effects on our children’s education. The documentary compiles interviews from leading educational experts, including members of the Common Core Validation Committee. Parents, officials, and the American public should be involved in this national decision regardless of their political persuasion. – See more at: http://www.commoncoremovie.com/about#sthash.xfc0V4gZ.dpuf
Here’s the trailer:
Those involved in developing the Common Core State Standards and the proponents of the standards seemed to only expect a minimal, yet controllable, amount of pushback. The attempts to minimize the pushback have not been successful. Those attempts involve character assassinations, characterizing the pushback as being a conservatives, kooks, conspiracy theorists, Tea Partiers, or white suburban moms. The pushback is coming from a wide spectrum of the population and is growing as more people become aware of the issues.
If the Common Core State Standards were as great as the proponents would lead you to believe, they would sell themselves. They aren’t selling themselves. Millions of dollars have been spent in promoting the standards. An expensive and massive public relations campaign has been well underway. With the release of Building the Machine you will likely see this campaign swing into action.
